Libyan International Conference for Investment and Trade 10-12 December to be held in Awbari

The first major in-person conference for investment and trade to be held in Southern Libya for a decade will take place in the Awbari Desert Moon Resort from 10 to 12 December this year, organizers Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Sebha and Investment Promotion and Privatization Affairs Libyan Authority announced.

The announcement followed the Chairman of the Events and Conferences Committee’s approval earlier this month. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, and Minister of Economic, reportedly support the initiative. In addition, Alyaqeen Bank, ALWAHA Bank, and Libyan African Aviation Holding Company are sponsors of the conference.

The Libyan International Conference for Investment and Trade towards the South will convene Libyan and foreign companies specialized in different sectors such as energy sources, mining, Real Estate investment, agriculture, farming, tourism, transit trade, and distribution.” Dr. Hosian Akeel, member of the preparatory Committee for the conference, told us. “Southwest Libya represents 33% of the total area of ​​the North-African country, 10% of its population, and 70% of the wealth: oil, shale oil, natural gas, shale gas, fossil, groundwater, agriculture, uranium, gold, copper, and silica. In addition, Southwest Lybia boasts vast agricultural land, advanced medical tourism, deserts, and much history.”

He added, stressing that the region is one of the most suitable in the world in the production of solar energy due to the bountiful sunshine and being the best gate to Africa for Europe. Furthermore, the conference aims to form global partnerships among those interested in the vast natural resources available in Libya.

Dr. Hosian Akeel indicates that “the main goal is to move towards the south of neighboring African countries to create an economic zone in North Africa as a strategic economic region. In addition, it’s intended to support local communities by addressing the phenomenon of unemployment, given the vast opportunities in Libya and its relatively small population.”

Organizers said that all Libyan and international companies and organizations are invited to attend, sponsor the event, and participate in the program.
